There’re only a few weeks to go before Google is expected to unveil the Pixel 3a at the I/O 2019. The Pixel 3a series will be Google’s proposition of an affordable smartphone that offers the flagship Pixel experience at much lower prices. However, there’s so much information about the device already out on the web that there’s hardly anything left to know, except for the prices. A new leak from Evan Blass now only confirms the information that has leaked previously.
The latest leak shows the Pixel 3a with all the details we have known so far. The Pixel 3a will come with an old-school 18:9 display with no notch. In fact, the Pixel 3a looks similar to Pixel 3, albeit with bigger bezels all around. There’s a single front camera, unlike the dual front camera on the Pixel 3. The rear of the device also looks familiar to the Pixel 3, especially with a dual-tone design and a single rear camera. There’s also a capacitive fingerprint sensor. The Pixel 3a also gets a coloured power button.
The render shows the Pixel 3a running the Pixel UI, similar to one found on the flagship Pixel devices. The calendar widget on the homescreen shows May 7 as the date, hinting that the Pixel 3a might indeed be launched on the first day of the Google I/O this year. The phone will come out with Android 9 Pie pit-of-the-box but is expected to be updated to Android Q on par with the flagship Pixel models.
While there’s no information here about the internals of the Pixel 3a, previous leaks have suggested that Google will offer midrange specifications to keep the prices low. The Pixel 3a is expected to come with a Snapdragon 670 chipset along with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The Pixel 3a will have a 5.6-inch full HD+ display while the 2915mAh battery is expected to power the phone. The phone is expected to come with a 12-megapixel single rear camera.
A large Pixel 3a XL is also expected to debut alongside the Pixel 3a. The bigger phone will have a 6-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 resolution, a more powerful Snapdragon 710 chipset and a bigger 3000mAh battery.
Both the devices were previously expected to be priced on par with the OnePlus 6T. However, one of the late leaks suggested that Google could be aiming for a sub-Rs 30,000 pricing in India. The Pixel 3a is expected to be unveiled on May 7 at the Google I/O 2019.
